Hi, I'm Geoffrey Holmes, director of "Bramble Reborn". My partner Bill Wiley and I are hard at work filming the new adventures of USCGC Bramble as she attempts to re-create history: a voyage to circumnavigate the North American continent! We're shooting with surface cameras, aerial drones, and ROVs (remotely operated vehicles) to capture all the action in glorious 4K, which has four times the resolution of standard high definition video. Please check the website often as I'll be sending out daily logs of our progress. And don't forget to join our mailing list: click here.

Bill and I head back into Norfolk and visit the General MacArthur Memorial downtown.  Very impressive and a fitting tribute to a great soldier.  He had such an amazing life and died very close to my birthday in April, 1964.

Bill I and I head into Norfolk and go to see the Battleship Wisconsin.  It’s amazing.  Makes our ship look like a child’s toy.  The 16 inch guns are as thick as tree trunks and the deck is clad in teak.  Amazing sight to see.

We has some very special guests on the ship here in Norfolk today.  Both formerly served on the Bramble in the Coast Guard. They were excited to tour their old ship and see some of the updates to the navigation and electrical equipment we’ve installed.  I got some great footage […]

We made it to Norfolk, Virginia! I’m impressed with the US Naval base as we cruise into our dock. Many impressive warships including the aircraft carrier “Harry Truman”. Nice to see some cool sites after a rather uncomfortable night. The boat was really pitching last night. Poor Bill got ejected […]

It’s a pretty calm day at sea. It seems strange that the ship isn’t doing its usual rolls. I have some free time and decide to create a design for a t-shirt for the crew. Bill really likes it. I hope we can get some made up in Miami or […]

Bill and I are on deck in the evening to catch an amazing sunset. We shoot lots of video in slow motion which is really impressive. I get an incredible shot of waves crashing against the bow with the water backlit by the setting sun. We get obsessed with the […]

I’m on the middle deck when I spot a huge brown bird trying to land on the ship. He can’t sit on the pole at the bow so he flies near the bridge and lands right on one of the side compasses! I can’t get a shot of him from […]

Heading south from the tip of Nova Scotia. Very windy and cold. The ship is rocking and handling “like a football at sea” as Bill’s friend says. It’s hard to sleep unless you take some kind of sleeping pill or nausea pill. I’m not seasick but they do help you […]
